[French Lawmakers Support Crypto Wallet Declaration Proposal, Holdings Over €100,000 May Face Fines]
Odaily Planet Daily News: The French National Assembly's Finance Committee has approved amendment I-CF821, which proposes requiring holders of self-custodied crypto assets with a value of €100,000 or more (approximately $112,000) to declare their holdings. The declaration value will be based on December 31 of each year, and those who fail to comply may face fines of up to €10,000. The proposal, introduced by Charles de Courson, Jean-Pierre Bataille, and Michel Castellani, aims to combat tax evasion. The amendment will still need to be resubmitted and approved during the National Assembly's review of the budget revenue section before it can be incorporated into French law. After the Finance Committee passed the amendment, it rejected the 2027 budget revenue section by a vote of 31 to 3. Lawmakers are expected to begin debating the government's original draft on Tuesday. (Cointelegraph)
