I think it’s time to talk about a different scenario for once.
I’ve been talking a lot about how I believe the next few weeks are going to play out, but never really about what happens if that scenario fails and we actually see a far more aggressive selloff than anticipated.
It’s important to understand that the market doesn’t owe us anything, and just because we’re already down roughly 10% from the highs doesn’t necessarily mean we have to see a relief bounce anytime soon.
Pullbacks of 20% to 30% within a bull market are still completely normal and don’t mean that the broader uptrend can’t continue.
That’s why it’s important to remain rational and carefully assess the current situation instead of anticipating a bounce simply because price has already dropped by a certain percentage.
A worst case scenario for me would be a retest of the previous ATH around $69k. And to be honest, that wouldn’t even seem too far fetched, as it would only represent a pullback of roughly 20% from the local top.
Additionally, a move like this would likely shake out a huge number of longs, as many market participants would start questioning whether we’re really still in a bull market or if the entire move was just one giant bull trap.
