[Ledger Supply Chain Attack Suspected to Spread to Europe, User Reports Hardware Implant Found in Official Distributor Device] According to Bitcoin News, security researcher Johannes disclosed that a user who purchased a hardware wallet from an official Ledger distributor in Europe discovered unauthorized hardware implants inside the device weeks after purchase. It is reported that suspicious circuitry, which does not exist in standard Ledger hardware, was found inside the device, suggesting that the device may have been physically tampered with before sale. Researchers indicated that the implant appears to use an earlier design, while newer implant components might be hidden behind the screen, making detection more difficult. Notably, no incidents of stolen funds have been reported from the device so far. Researchers stated it remains unclear whether the implant is malfunctioning or if the attackers are waiting for more user devices to be compromised. Previously, the CryptoBilis Ledger incident had already raised concerns about the supply chain security of hardware wallets.
