[IMF: Over Half of Tokenized U.S. Stock Trades Occur Outside Regular Trading Hours, Market Still Faces Liquidity and Stability Risks]
Odaily Planet Daily reports that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has noted that tokenized U.S. stocks enable 24/7 trading and fractional ownership, with over half of trades occurring outside regular market trading hours. Approximately 80% of these trades involve less than one share. The IMF stated that overnight price movements contain valuable information, with over 85% of these price changes reflected in traditional stock prices within the first five minutes of market opening. The IMF pointed out that the tokenized stock market remains relatively small and fragmented, which could improve settlement and automation processes but requires enhanced legal, liquidity, and interoperability safeguards.
