[South Korean Stock Market Trading Volume Plummets 70% from Late May Peak, Foreign Investors Withdraw and Local Retail Investors Exit] Odaily Planet Daily News: For most of this year, South Korea has been a prime example of the global AI boom. Now, by almost every metric, South Korean stocks are rapidly losing investor interest. Market trading volume has plunged 70% from its late May peak, foreign investors are swiftly withdrawing, and local retail investors are exiting the market. Behind this reversal lies South Korea's stock market's heavy reliance on Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix. Phillip Wool, Portfolio Management Director at Rayliant Global Advisors, stated: "I think for most investors, especially those who recently entered the South Korean market due to trades in memory chips, the biggest challenge is that the easy money under this theme has already been pocketed." He mentioned that his fund has been taking profits on South Korean AI stocks and is currently underweight on SK Hynix and Samsung Electronics. Richard Tang from Julius Baer Bank said: "We are observing a growing flow of funds back into U.S. stocks, which has led to a continued outflow of foreign capital from South Korean stocks."
