[ASML Raises Component Prices for Korean Customers by 10% Across the Board, Samsung and SK Hynix Accept Price Hike] According to a report by Jinse Finance on October 10, citing Wall Street Insights, the world's largest semiconductor equipment manufacturer ASML has announced a 10% across-the-board price increase for components supplied to Korean customers. Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix have accepted the proposal, with the price hike set to take effect officially in January next year. This marks a significant shift in pricing power within the semiconductor equipment supply chain, tilting further toward suppliers. The price increase covers all components for EUV and DUV lithography machines, including consumable parts purchased regularly and core components requiring replacement, such as optical systems, light sources, and precision drive units. Industry experts view this one-time 10% across-the-board hike as an unusual move, as ASML previously only adjusted prices for individual components. ASML accounts for its equipment services, components, and upgrade business separately, with revenue from this segment reaching €8.193 billion in 2024, representing approximately 25% of its total revenue of €32.667 billion. This segment is expected to grow by over 30% this year. Additionally, ASML is negotiating price increases for new equipment with major customers, though its largest customer, TSMC, is reportedly opposed to the hikes. Other equipment manufacturers, such as Applied Materials and Tokyo Electron, have also followed suit with price increases. The core driver behind this trend is the structural supply-demand imbalance caused by AI data center investments driving capacity expansion.
