[The U.S. National Credit Union Administration Proposes Adding 26 Stablecoin Reporting Fields] Odaily Planet Daily News – On October 9, the U.S. National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) released a proposal for stablecoin reporting, aiming to add 26 data fields to the quarterly financial report Form 5300. These fields would apply to federally insured credit unions engaged in stablecoin-related activities, with the target implementation date set for March 31, 2027. Among the proposed new fields, 8 pertain to reserve assets held for authorized third-party issuers, 9 relate to cryptocurrency key custody and control, 5 involve financial exposure to issuers, and 4 concern payment-type stablecoins held on institutional balance sheets. This data collection is expected to cover 4,224 federally insured credit unions, with an annual reporting workload estimated at 794,112 hours, and an average of 47 hours required for a complete quarterly report.
