According to Bloomberg, the U.S. Department of Justice is reviewing whether Binance violated its 2023 settlement agreement with the U.S. government and investigating whether Binance failed to prevent certain transactions on its platform, thereby violating U.S. sanctions against Iran. In September, the Manhattan federal prosecutor's office applied to seize $61 million, claiming the funds were tied to Iranian black-market oil sales and laundered through Binance. Under the 2023 settlement agreement for violating U.S. banking regulations, Binance agreed to pay a $4.3 billion fine and strengthen compliance controls. If found to have breached the agreement, Binance could face reinstated criminal charges and additional fines amounting to billions of dollars. Tysen Duva, head of the DOJ's Criminal Division, confirmed the investigation is ongoing but did not state that Binance has violated the agreement. Currently, neither Binance nor its employees have been accused of wrongdoing in this investigation. Binance responded by stating that the company continues to enhance compliance controls and is committed to cooperating with law enforcement. https://(wublock123.com)/news/doj-review-binance-2023-settlement-iran-sanctions-investigation-69827
