[France Reports 90 Crypto-Related Violent Crimes in 7 Months, Becomes Global Hotspot for Physical Attacks] According to Deep Tide TechFlow on October 9, citing a report from Cointelegraph, data from the French Ministry of the Interior shows that between January and mid-August 2026, France recorded 90 cases of crypto-related kidnappings, extortion, and violent robberies, averaging one incident every 2.5 days. Data from the security agency (Gart.io) indicates that France has documented 73 physical crypto-related attacks this year, surpassing the United States and the United Kingdom to rank first globally. The head of research at Chainalysis stated that the surge in attacks may be directly linked to a recent major personal data breach involving the French tax authorities and crypto tax agency Waltio, which led to the exposure of holders' addresses and asset information. Additionally, over 40% of the cases in France targeted the relatives and acquaintances of crypto holders. Currently, French authorities have classified these cases as organized crime and have assigned specialized agencies to conduct coordinated investigations.
