[South Korea Plans to Include Crypto Payments Over $50,000 in Reporting Scope, Requires Crypto Exchanges to Retain External Wallet Addresses for 6 Years] Odaily Planet Daily News – South Korea's Ministry of Economy and Finance recently announced a draft amendment to regulations related to the CARF (Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework), proposing that South Korean crypto asset service providers retain addresses of external personal wallets, overseas wallets, etc., for 6 years. For transactions using crypto assets to purchase goods or services, if a single transaction exceeds $50,000, both the receiving merchant and the paying customer will be included in the reporting scope. These adjustments aim to align with the OECD's Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework (CARF), set to take effect on January 1, 2027. South Korea has also confirmed participation from 55 jurisdictions, including the United Kingdom, Japan, Switzerland, the Cayman Islands, and the UAE; the United States is participating through bilateral agreements for information exchange.
