🇪🇺 MiCA Q4 2026 Stablecoin Update: 25 Authorized Stablecoin (EMT) Issuers issuing 41 MiCA-compliant EMTs across 14 Countries
Yesterday, ESMA published an Opinion that every crypto-asset service provider in the EU now has to act on. CASPs should not provide services on EMTs that are not issued in compliance with MiCA. That covers not only trading, exchange or order execution, but also transfers, custody, advice and portfolio management. National regulators are expected to require remediation as soon as possible, and no later than early January 2027.
This raises the obvious question: which stablecoins can EU teams still provide services for? Here is the answer👇
Current snapshot of MiCA-compliant stablecoins (October 2026):
→ 25 authorized EMT issuers
→ From 14 EEA countries: 🇫🇷 (6), 🇳🇱 (3), 🇱🇺 (3), 🇲🇹 (2), 🇱🇹 (2), 🇫🇮 (1), 🇩🇰 (1), 🇱🇻 (1), 🇨🇿 (1), 🇩🇪 (1), 🇮🇸 (1), 🇵🇱 (1), 🇵🇹 (1), 🇸🇮 (1)
→ 41 authorized EMTs:
• 23 EUR-denominated 💶
• 11 USD-denominated 💵
• 2 GBP-denominated 🇬🇧
• 1 each in CZK, PLN, RON, CHF and SEK
These 41 are the stablecoins EU businesses can continue to serve under MiCA.
