**[OpenAI and Anthropic Compete to Recruit Former Trump Administration Officials, Seeking to Strengthen Ties with the White House]**
Odaily Planet Daily News: As artificial intelligence technology is increasingly viewed as a national security issue, with growing calls for stronger AI regulation and multiple cybersecurity incidents caused by uncontrolled AI systems, companies developing cutting-edge AI technologies are intensifying efforts to establish connections with the White House under President Trump’s leadership.
This year, Anthropic has appointed at least two former Trump administration officials, one to its board of directors and another as the head of frontier compute strategy. OpenAI, on the other hand, has hired at least three officials who previously served in the Trump administration, tasked with roles in strategy and special projects.
Michelle Ne Ne Duncan, a visiting fellow at the New America Security Center (CNAS) Technology and National Security Program, stated that companies have realized the Trump administration holds numerous policy tools that can impact their operations, including federal procurement, supply chain risk identification, and export controls, and that the government is willing to use these measures. She remarked, “These companies have learned from Anthropic’s experiences and recognized that maintaining good relations with the White House is beneficial.” (CNBC)
