According to Decrypt, a London man named Ajay Shinjin has been sentenced to 2.5 years in prison by a UK court for his involvement in a SIM swap scam. Police stated that the criminal group hijacked phone numbers of British Telecom (BT) customers in November 2021, transferring the numbers to SIM cards under their control. This allowed them to intercept one-time passcodes and steal nearly £200,000 (approximately $265,000) in crypto assets.
