[Netflix Releases Trailer for FTX Collapse Prequel Series, Premiering November 19]
Deep Tide TechFlow reports that on October 9, according to Cointelegraph, video streaming platform Netflix unveiled the trailer for its upcoming eight-episode drama series centered on the collapse of cryptocurrency exchange FTX. The story focuses on former CEO Sam “SBF” Bankman-Fried and his girlfriend and colleague, Alameda Research head Caroline Ellison. The series is set to premiere on November 19, with Anthony Boyle portraying SBF and Julia Garner playing Ellison.
The trailer highlights the themes the series aims to explore, including the belief held by the characters that "going all-in every time is mathematically the optimal strategy," seemingly referencing the exchange's use of customer funds for high-risk investments. Additionally, the trailer features a line from Ellison's character: "Lying for a good reason isn’t a bad thing." This line echoes Ellison's testimony during SBF's 2023 criminal trial, where she revealed that SBF believed the rules against lying and stealing did not necessarily apply to the philosophical concept of "Effective Altruism."
