[ESMA Requires Crypto Service Providers to Cease Offering Non-MiCA Compliant Stablecoin Services, Clear Positions Within 3 Months]
According to a report by Cointelegraph, the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has issued an opinion requiring EU crypto asset service providers (CASPs) to stop offering services involving non-MiCA compliant stablecoins to EU customers. This includes trading, exchange, custody, transfers, and investment advice, as well as preventing customers from purchasing or increasing their holdings. Existing exposures must be cleared within 3 months, no later than January 8, 2027. During this period, only limited exit services such as selling, exchanging, and withdrawals may be provided.
