[Solana Foundation VP of Technology: Solana users do not need to enter 'bunker mode,' seeds are not on-chain] Foresight News reports that Jacob Creech, Vice President of Technology at the Solana Foundation, tweeted that even if the quantum timeline accelerates or AI launches 'classical attacks,' Solana users do not need to enter 'bunker mode' like users of other networks. Solana uses Ed25519, where each signing key is derived from a hashed secret seed. Regardless of whether quantum or 'classical' attacks break the curve, what gets exposed are derived keys, not the seed itself, as the seed never appears on-chain. Foresight News previously reported that Ethereum researcher Justin Drake called on the blockchain industry to calmly begin planning 'bunker mode' and suggested orderly migration of assets to new addresses where public keys remain hidden behind hashes. Large asset holders could prioritize this approach. He believes that AI's potential impact on private keys and ECDSA security may arrive sooner than threats from quantum computing.
