[Canton CEO Says Crypto Industry Should Solidify Applications Before 2028 to Address U.S. Policy Changes]
Odaily Planet Daily News – Canton CEO and Digital Asset co-founder and CEO Yuval Rooz stated at Token2049 in Singapore that the crypto industry should leverage the current regulatory environment to accelerate institutional adoption and achieve widespread blockchain application, thereby reducing the likelihood of future government reversals of industry progress. He emphasized that regardless of what changes occur in 2028, the industry should develop to a point where it becomes 'irreversible.' Yuval Rooz compared the opportunity for blockchain applications to Uber and Airbnb, noting that both services achieved widespread adoption before regulators imposed restrictions.
The next U.S. presidential election is scheduled for November 7, 2028, which could bring changes to government priorities and regulatory focus. During the same discussion, Binance Co-CEO Richard Teng expressed hope that the 'CLARITY Act' would eventually become law, stating that legislation could prevent regulatory backtracking and encourage institutional market entry. Franklin Templeton CEO Jenny Johnson remarked that legislation would enhance certainty but cautioned that the industry should not rely solely on the passage of the act; the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) have already been advancing crypto regulation under their existing authority.
