There's still 76 million in cross-chain assets stuck on that chain. Once December 15th passes, the funds can't be withdrawn. The one shutting down is Pudgy Penguins' Layer 2. The parent company funded it for 18 months out of their own pocket, losing an eight-figure sum. This number was mentioned by them on X. In the same week, another chain also announced its closure. Blast, which at its peak held 2 billion in deposits, backed by Paradigm. Both announcements cited the same reason: revenue couldn't cover operations. Abstract had 400,000 users and over 300 million transactions, but still couldn't make it. Igloo's founder said he could've launched a token to keep it alive, but he didn't. Yesterday, I said ETH wouldn't outperform BTC this week, and that's still the case today. Even brands and user numbers can't save a chain. Before the year ends, more names will be added to this list.
