Deep Tide TechFlow reports that on October 8, according to Business Insider, Amazon (AMZN.O) employees reported on Tuesday that the company has initiated a new round of layoffs across multiple departments. The report states that the layoffs involve several business units, including customer service, market support, and engineering roles within Amazon's retail operations, as well as business divisions in India and the UK. According to a person familiar with the matter, the total number of affected employees is fewer than 1,000. An Amazon spokesperson confirmed to Business Insider that the company reduced a "small number" of positions on Tuesday, primarily concentrated in its store operations division. (Jin10)
