According to Wu Blockchain, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has issued a warning that AI accelerating mathematical research could significantly weaken the practical security of lattice-based cryptography systems in the next two years. This includes technologies like ML-DSA and Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE), and it might even lead to ECDSA being cracked earlier than expected. He believes that AI could drive mathematical progress equivalent to the past 50 years within just two years. As a result, Ethereum's Lean roadmap has gradually shifted towards pure hash-based signature schemes over the past year to reduce reliance on lattice-based cryptography.
For asset security, Vitalik suggests prioritizing storing funds in addresses that have not initiated any transactions, as long as it’s convenient to do so. However, he advises against rushing to migrate assets immediately, as the migration process itself carries risks of financial loss. He also recommends that multisig wallets use off-chain signature confirmations as much as possible to avoid exposing signature information publicly.
