Executives in the Financials sector are turning cautious:
The unique seller/buyer ratio for Financials stood at 2.10x above its long-term average in Q3 2026, the highest reading across all major sectors.
This ratio compares the number of individual insiders who sold shares with the number who bought, regardless of how many times they sold.
The number of financial executives buying their own stocks in the sector fell to its lowest level in almost 23 years, while the number of sellers was not unusually high.
Energy and Technology followed, with ratios of 1.30x and 1.24x, respectively.
At the same time, the broader market seller/buyer ratio stood at 1.20x its long-term average last quarter, or 20% above the historical norm.
On the other hand, Consumer Staples had the lowest reading at just 0.50x, followed by Utilities at 0.55x and Materials at 0.57x.
Insider confidence is fading across key market sectors.
