Lao Ma's tweet implies a significant shift. Today, Lao Ma said that in the future, the Grok Bot agent product will "choose the best model to use" and not lock its own model. Select the most suitable backend model based on specific tasks - Claude Opus 5.5 may be used for text inference, MidJourney may be used for generating images, Suno may be used for audio/music, and other leading APIs may be added. There is only one standard: use the one that is most likely to give the best result. The focus is on agent products and model routing, with Bot as the upper level assistant: able to connect accounts, take proactive actions, and execute across tools; The underlying model is outsourced based on tasks and is not forced to use all of xAI's own models. Of course, xAI did not stop the development of the Grok model, but it is clear that the future focus will be on the Agent level of Bot. This idea is correct. Instead of crazily rolling around in the already red ocean field of big models, it is better to roll around in the field of agents, which has its own advantages. This implies that SpaceX's future focus on AI is twofold: 1) Consolidating the bottom level computing power center, which is a cash flow business, SpaceX has strong engineering capabilities (able to achieve the lowest construction cost per MW); 2) Seizing the entrance, based on the increasingly active social platform X, bots naturally have an unparalleled distribution channel platform from the beginning. Not locking in their own large models will make users have a better experience with bots and be more able to retain users. In the future, we can sell more computing power to other major model manufacturers.
