**[Open Source Software LibreOffice Reaffirms It Will Not Incorporate AI Features]** Golden Finance reports that the nonprofit software development organization behind the open-source document editor LibreOffice, The Document Foundation, stated in a blog post this week that while it does not outright reject artificial intelligence, it "will not" add AI features to its software in the foreseeable future. This blog post was published a few weeks after the latest version of LibreOffice was released at the end of August. During the release, the nonprofit reaffirmed that the software "does not include generative AI features." LibreOffice stated at the time that this was a "deliberate design decision" aimed at ensuring users' documents would not be uploaded to servers for processing and that no part of the software requires an internet connection to function. The organization further emphasized that its software is used by tens of millions of individuals and organizations, and users should retain control over their data.
