[Single Stock Leveraged ETFs Become a Retail Investor Trap, South Korean Retail Investors Lose 2.3 Trillion Won, Approximately $1.7 Billion in Two Months] BlockBeats News, October 7: According to data compiled by South Korea's financial regulatory authorities, since the launch of single-stock leveraged exchange-traded products in May this year, investors have reportedly lost an estimated 2.3 trillion won, approximately $1.7 billion, in just a few months between May 27 and August 14. This marks the first time regulators have disclosed the overall loss scale of South Korean investors in these high-leverage single-stock products. It is worth noting that the data only covers the top 10 South Korean brokerage firms and does not represent the total losses of all South Korean investors in leveraged products. Since July, regulators have gradually introduced measures to restrict trading in leveraged single-stock products, including temporarily banning the listing of new related products, raising the minimum cash margin requirements for investors, and requiring investors to undergo specialized training before trading. This indicates that South Korea's regulatory policies have shifted significantly in less than two months, from encouraging the launch of such products in the domestic market in May to restricting their expansion starting in July.
