[South Korean Retail Investors Lose $1.7 Billion Due to Leveraged ETFs] According to Bloomberg, citing data from South Korea's Financial Supervisory Service via a South Korean lawmaker's office, retail investors in South Korea are estimated to have lost approximately 2.3 trillion won (around $1.7 billion) between May 27 and August 14. These losses stemmed from single-stock leveraged ETFs and note products tracking Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix. Since July, South Korean regulators have implemented measures such as temporarily banning the listing of new single-stock leveraged products, raising minimum cash margin requirements, and enhancing investor education to mitigate risks associated with these products.
