[BaFin Rejects MiCA Application from Bitcoin.de Operator, Trading Remains Suspended as Platform Seeks Regulated Partners]
Odaily Planet Daily News: Cryptocurrency asset platform operator Bitcoin Group SE announced that the German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) has rejected its subsidiary futurum bank AG's application for a crypto asset service provider license under the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA). The company is evaluating alternative operational models and seeking to resume Bitcoin.de trading as soon as possible through regulated partners. Bitcoin Group SE CEO Moritz Eckert stated that the company was prepared for the possibility of the application being denied and will now review the decision, with the option to file an objection or resubmit the application in the future. Bitcoin.de, operated by futurum bank AG, is a German cryptocurrency trading platform with over 1.1 million registered users. Originally a peer-to-peer trading marketplace, Bitcoin.de transitioned to a brokerage model this year, planning to offer over 100 cryptocurrencies, crypto asset exchange, and staking services. The platform had initially planned to launch the new model by the end of June, but the delay in obtaining the MiCA license has postponed this, with trading largely suspended since June 12.
