[Musk Once Publicly Called Anthropic 'Evil,' but SpaceX's Compute Collaboration with Them May Nearly Double to $84.5 Billion] According to Deep Tide TechFlow on October 6, citing a report from TheStreet via Reuters, despite Elon Musk publicly labeling Anthropic as 'evil' on the X platform this February, the scale of compute collaboration between his company SpaceX and Anthropic continues to expand. Based on a confidential IPO prospectus from Anthropic, the company may pay up to $84.5 billion to SpaceX for compute procurement by 2029, nearly doubling the approximately $45 billion disclosed by SpaceX in May of this year. It is worth noting that Anthropic can cancel most of its compute procurement arrangements with SpaceX with a 90-day notice. In contrast, of Anthropic's total infrastructure spending commitments of approximately $518 billion, about 80% are non-cancellable payment obligations. The report highlights that while SpaceX may secure massive compute orders, the associated revenue lacks long-term guarantees. If demand for AI compute slows or other suppliers offer more competitive pricing, Anthropic may reduce its procurement, posing revenue risks for SpaceX.
