EEZ tackles the toughest layer of the L1/L2 divide: asynchrony.
Today marks a solid milestone:
Eduardo Antuña announced the first atomic L1→L2 cross-layer transaction on the mainnet: in a single operation, L1 and L2 either succeed together or fail together.
But this is just the beginning—it’s not yet a production-grade network.
Once it matures, the hardest challenge won’t be technical; it’ll be migrating existing chains like Arbitrum, Base, and Robinhood.
Why? Because EEZ is disrupting their most profitable territory: sequencing monopolies. L2s can still propose sequences and charge fees, but the ultimate sequencing authority will shift to Ethereum.
For teams relying on sequencer-exclusive MEV and private order flow, there’s bound to be resistance.
Regardless, EEZ has at least made a significant technical step forward in bridging the Ethereum L1/L2 divide. It’s worth supporting.
