According to Nada News, a 28-year-old Russian core member of the globally notorious ransomware group 'Qilin' was arrested in Japan and extradited to Germany on October 2. The report states that the man is suspected of illegally infiltrating the system of a German logistics company in September 2024, encrypting its data, and extorting approximately $165,000 worth of Bitcoin ($BTC) (around ¥26 million). Investigations revealed that the suspect was responsible for building attack systems within the Qilin criminal network and took a proportional cut from the ransom collected by various branch execution teams. Japanese police detained him in late May this year during his trip to Osaka, and he was later handed over to German authorities following a ruling by the Tokyo High Court. Qilin operates under a 'Ransomware-as-a-Service' (RaaS) model and previously claimed responsibility for a cyberattack on Japan's Asahi Group in 2025. https://www.(wublock123.com)/news/russian-qilin-ransomware-core-member-arrested-in-japan-extradited-to-germany-69585
