According to Wu Blockchain, security agency Blockful has released an investigative report pointing out that 'governance attacker/whale' Humpy is pressuring Compound through API3 employee Ugur Mersin. Humpy is leveraging their COMP holdings as collateral to inject into dCOMP, amplifying their voting power, and has now become the largest single COMP holder in the Compound DAO. Previously, this party joined forces to block the renewal proposal for Compound's security service provider. Recently, they further submitted an on-chain proposal aiming to grant the governance layer the power to revoke transactions by the Treasury Management Committee (TMC), effectively disrupting TMC's routine fund allocations.
Although Compound's governance multisig has the authority to cancel malicious proposals, using this mechanism could further escalate governance conflicts. Blockful warns that flooding forums to apply pressure, disrupting DAO operations, and attempting to seize treasury control are highly consistent with Humpy's previous governance attack patterns seen in protocols like SushiSwap and Balancer.
