[Grayscale: Bitcoin's Return Over the Past Three Years Reached 225%, Turns to a Loss of 11% If the Best 15 Trading Days Are Excluded]
Deep Tide TechFlow reports that on October 6, Grayscale stated that as of September 23, Bitcoin's cumulative return over the past three years was approximately 225%, compared to a return of about 109% for the Nasdaq 100 Index during the same period. However, Bitcoin's gains are highly concentrated in a few trading days, with its strongest trading days contributing significantly to long-term returns. Data shows that if the best 5 trading days of Bitcoin over the past three years are excluded, its cumulative return would drop from 225% to 95%; excluding the best 10 trading days would leave only 27%; and missing the best 15 trading days would result in a cumulative loss of 11%. In contrast, if the Nasdaq 100's best 15 trading days during the same period are excluded, its cumulative return would decrease from 109% to 21%. Grayscale believes this highlights that Bitcoin's price increases are often concentrated in a few high-volatility periods, and investors attempting to time the market and missing key days of price surges could significantly impact their long-term performance.
