🐋 WHALE WATCH : October is a dense month for privacy coin upgrades. XMR runs a hard fork stress test on Oct 5 at block 3102800 targeting the FCMP++ and CARROT upgrades. The test expands anonymity sets from 16 decoys to roughly 100M outputs. Thats the months biggest technical event. ZEC activates the NU7 testnet upgrade around Oct 6 cutting block times from 75 to 25 seconds. The mainnet activation height decision lands Oct 20. ARRR activated the Ironwood hard fork Oct 3 skipping Orchard and bundling a dPoW update into the same fork. NIGHT went permissionless on mainnet Oct 2 with a v8 upgrade planned for Q4 adding private smart contracts and custom tokens. AZTEC relaunched its http://zk.money wallet Sept 29 enabling private stablecoin payments on its Ethereum L2. RAIL is rolling out EIP 7702 support letting externally owned accounts delegate execution to smart contracts and interact with DeFi protocols like Aave. Privacy tech plugging into mainstream DeFi rather than staying isolated from it. BDX launched a $1M grants program for privacy app developers alongside an independent security audit across its core network wallets BelNet BChat and Browser. ZEN continues its transition to a confidential compute layer on Base. PIVX is pushing protocol and wallet updates to improve SHIELD privacy protocol speed. XMR and ZEC carry the month. RAILs EIP 7702 move is the one to watch for longer term DeFi integration.
