In terms of baseline power the order of ideal power sources seems to be: 1. Geothermal 2. Hydro 3. Gas 4. Nuclear 5. Oil 6. Coal Gas and nuclear are having a little debate now but it's not a new one. Flared gas gets burned anyway so as long as there's excess supply you might as well use it for power.
