[Economist: Eurozone Services Sector Growth Accelerates, Raising Rate Hike Expectations]
Reported by Golden Finance, on October 5, S&P Global Market Intelligence Chief Business Economist Chris Williamson stated: 'The growth rate of the Eurozone services sector has reached its fastest pace since November last year, indicating that the Eurozone's economic recovery is accelerating and that growth momentum is spreading from manufacturing to broader sectors. The composite signals from the PMI survey show that the Eurozone economy is currently expanding at a quarterly growth rate of 0.4% and is expected to achieve further growth in the fourth quarter. Service sector activity in both Germany and France has shown signs of growth for the first time since March, with Germany and France achieving their first service sector expansion this year; Italy, meanwhile, has achieved expansion for the fourth consecutive month, outperforming Spain, which also recorded its strongest growth in four months. Overall growth in September reached its fastest pace in five years. At the same time, the survey indicates that input price inflation has risen to 4%, suggesting that the Eurozone inflation rate is approaching the upper limit of the European Central Bank's 2% target. Coupled with the accelerated economic growth indicated by the PMI, these data suggest that pressure is mounting on the European Central Bank to adopt more aggressive monetary tightening measures.'
