[Economist: Eurozone Services Sector Growth Accelerates, Raising Rate Hike Expectations]
BlockBeats News, October 5 – Chris Williamson, Chief Business Economist at S&P Global Market Intelligence, stated: 'The growth rate of the Eurozone services sector has reached its fastest pace since November last year, indicating that the Eurozone's economic recovery is accelerating, with growth momentum spreading from manufacturing to broader sectors. The composite signals from the PMI survey show that the Eurozone economy is currently expanding at a quarterly growth rate of 0.4% and is expected to achieve further growth in the fourth quarter. Service sector activity in both Germany and France has shown signs of growth for the first time since March, with both countries achieving their first service sector expansion this year. Italy, meanwhile, has achieved expansion for the fourth consecutive month, outperforming Spain, which also recorded its strongest growth in four months. Overall growth in September reached its fastest level in five years.
At the same time, the survey revealed that the input price inflation rate rose to 4%, suggesting that the Eurozone inflation rate is approaching the upper limit of the European Central Bank's 2% target. Coupled with the acceleration in economic growth indicated by the PMI, this data suggests that the pressure on the European Central Bank to adopt more aggressive monetary tightening measures is increasing.'
