[Zcash NU7 Upgrade Goes Live on Testnet, Mainnet Launch Planned for November 5] BlockBeats News, October 5: Zcash has activated the NU7 network upgrade on its testnet, initiating real-world testing for the mainnet upgrade scheduled for November. According to the Zcash testnet block explorer, the designated activation height of 4,465,026 was reached on October 4 at 18:21:45 (UTC), after which Zcash confirmed that NU7 had officially gone live on the testnet. NU7 will reduce Zcash's target block interval from 75 seconds to 25 seconds, disable version 4 transactions, and introduce a "Network Sustainability Mechanism," which reallocates a portion of transaction fees to future block rewards. Once version 4 transactions are disabled, ZEC still stored in the legacy Sprout shielded pool will become unusable unless users transfer the funds before NU7 is fully activated. Zcash developers will assess the testnet's performance and decide on October 20 whether to proceed with the mainnet upgrade and determine the activation height. The target date for mainnet activation is November 5. [Original Link]
