Although @Aptos has been pretty disappointing this cycle, the rumors about Aptos shutting down within 6 months are just sensationalism.
Yes, there’s been a massive exodus of funds from the Aptos chain, on-chain TVL has plummeted, and the price of APT keeps dropping. But to conclude from this that Aptos is going to shut down is either ignorant or malicious.
Aptos is a sovereign L1 chain, not an L2 like @blast, where the official team can stop the sequencer and block production grinds to a halt.
Shutting down an L1 is an order of magnitude harder than shutting down an L2. For a PoS L1 like Aptos, over one-third of validators would need to go offline, preventing consensus and block production, for the chain to stop functioning. It’s not as simple as the project team pressing a shutdown button.
Take the Terra chain during Luna’s death spiral and collapse as an example. Even today, Terra Classic is still producing blocks, despite having only $1 million TVL on-chain.
