Golden Finance reported on October 4th that Apple announced plans to introduce new privacy control measures for Mac users and warned that granting extensive data access permissions to third-party software, including AI agents, poses increasing risks.
The iPhone maker stated in a Friday announcement that it will implement additional controls to ensure that users who wish to grant "full disk access" to an application—allowing it to access system files, emails, messages, and browsing history—can only do so through "very explicit user actions."
Apple stated: "We are committed to ensuring that users fully understand these risks before granting such access, so they can make informed decisions about their data and privacy."
While Apple did not name specific programs or developers in the statement, it noted that as "the capabilities and autonomy of AI agents continue to grow," the risks associated with this level of access will increase significantly.
