[Blast to Cease Operations, Users Advised to Withdraw Assets to Ethereum Mainnet by October 26]
Blast announced on the X platform that it will cease operations. Blast stated that its initial goal was to build a self-sustaining chain for users and developers, but the economics of operating the chain are no longer viable: the ongoing costs of maintaining Blast exceed the revenue generated by the L2, and there is no credible path to make the chain's economy sustainable. Therefore, the decision has been made to gradually shut down Blast.
Blast emphasized that the current priority is to ensure the shutdown process is as smooth and secure as possible, and it requires all users to withdraw their assets from Blast to the Ethereum mainnet, including balances in the Blast PWA. To facilitate withdrawals, the withdrawal delay will be reduced to 24 hours.
As part of the shutdown process, Blast will first withdraw its Lido assets, which is expected to take approximately one week. During this period, even though the withdrawal delay has been reduced to 24 hours, withdrawals will temporarily be unavailable.
