The director of Edge of Tomorrow once joked that the movie was practically made for Tom Cruise haters because his character spends so much of the film dying again and again. Trapped in a time loop, Major William Cage is sent back to the beginning every time he dies, forcing him to relive the same brutal battle while learning from each mistake.
That repetition becomes one of the movie’s cleverest elements. Every death may look like another failure, but each reset makes Cage more skilled, prepared, and determined. What starts as an endless cycle of defeat gradually transforms him into a capable soldier, blending dark comedy with the time-loop concept that drives the entire story.
