According to Wu Blockchain, Aave founder Stani Kulechov expressed disappointment with the European Central Bank (ECB) and the European Banking Authority (EBA) regarding their response to the MiCA consultation. He stated that the two institutions not only advocate for banning stablecoin yield payments but also propose restricting crypto asset service providers (CASPs) from offering users access to DeFi, including protocols involving yields from non-MiCA-authorized stablecoins. Additionally, they may require 'suitability tests' to limit access for certain users and establish certification systems for DeFi lending protocols. Kulechov believes these restrictions could push European DeFi toward more closed systems, weakening the liquidity and network effects of open financial networks.
