[U.S. Judge Dismisses Class Action Lawsuit Against Kelsier Ventures and Meteora Regarding Libra]
Odaily Planet Daily reports that U.S. Federal Judge Jennifer L. Rochon has dismissed a class action lawsuit against the Libra project organizers Kelsier Ventures, decentralized finance platform Meteora, and developer Benjamin Chow, and denied the plaintiffs' request to file an amended complaint. The dismissed allegations included fraud, violations of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), violations of New York General Business Law, and unjust enrichment. The court found that the plaintiffs failed to demonstrate that Meteora constituted a suable unincorporated association or partnership, nor did they prove a pattern of racketeering activity sufficient to establish a RICO case against Kelsier Ventures. The court also noted that Benjamin Chow's technical assistance prior to the token issuance and Meteora's collection of transaction fees were insufficient to establish fraudulent intent. Libra is a token that Argentine President Javier Milei had previously promoted on social media. Estimates suggest that over 44,000 investors were affected; Milei later denied responsibility for the investors' losses. (Bitcoin.com News)
