[U.S. Treasury Sanctions A7 Network, Citing Links to Nobitex and Use of A7A5 Token to Evade Sanctions] Foresight News reports that the U.S. Treasury has taken action against the A7 Network. The U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has designated the A7 Network as a significant transnational criminal organization and imposed sanctions. The A7 Network is a shadow banking network linked to Russia and used by the Iranian regime to evade sanctions. An investigation by the U.S. Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) revealed that between January 2025 and June 2026, A7 Network's subordinate agents processed over $17 billion globally. Additionally, the A7 Network is connected to Nobitex, Iran's largest digital asset exchange, which was added to OFAC's sanctions list on June 2, 2026. The A7 Network has also facilitated North Korean hackers in attacking cryptocurrency exchanges and other illicit actors. The A7A5 token is a ruble-backed cryptocurrency issued by Old Vector LLC. Old Vector LLC was sanctioned by OFAC on August 14, 2025. A7A5 is part of the A7 Network, created to help its members evade sanctions and conduct international transactions while generating revenue for sanctioned infrastructure providers, who profit from the token's circulation.
