Quite a few people probably know about this. When Opinion first got investment from YZi Labs, it wasn’t focused on prediction markets. Later, because there was so much FOMO around predictions in the market, they pivoted to what it is now. After the pivot, it became the first prediction market in the BNB ecosystem, so it got a lot of attention. Back in the early days, my friends at 4XLabs and I had already connected with Opinion. By the time the market really blew up, ethereum:0x7977bf3e7e0c954d12cdca3e013adaf57e0b06e0 was in super high demand. But prediction markets aren’t something you can just copy from PL or KA and call it a day. Still, with YZi Labs’ investment and the BNB ecosystem backing it, the market gave Opinion a pretty high valuation. I heard they later raised over $100 million, pushing their valuation past $1 billion. Unfortunately, this market isn’t something you can just hype up forever. In the end, it all comes down to your ability to generate revenue. The prediction market space requires localization and a deep understanding of gambling. I won’t say much more, but the final outcome speaks for itself. Once the airdrop ended and the hype-driven crowd left, things got awkward. This kind of awkwardness isn’t unique to Opinion—it’s pretty common in other markets too. At its core, it’s about not fully understanding the industry and just riding the wave, flying high and fast.
