[BMW to Cut 20% of Senior Executives with AI Assistance]
According to a report by Jinse Finance, on October 1, BMW AG is planning to deploy artificial intelligence to help reduce one-fifth of its management positions by mid-next year. This is part of an agreed buyout plan aimed at cutting costs and improving profitability. BMW stated on Wednesday that the reductions will be achieved by downsizing certain departments and management roles.
The luxury car manufacturer added that this will also extend to lower levels, as its goal is to become more agile “through effective use of AI.” According to a person familiar with the company’s structure, the Munich-based automaker has approximately 65 senior vice presidents who operate directly under the board, along with another tier comprising around 400 senior positions. This means about 100 senior positions will be eliminated.
