OpenAI revealed that the operation began in early July and surged within two days, with over 16,000 requests made by more than 4,000 users. Ultimately, OpenAI identified related activities among a group of over 15,000 users and announced that the operation was fully blocked on July 28. OpenAI stated that extracting such reasoning processes could enable other companies to replicate advanced technologies without investing equivalent resources in research and security maintenance, potentially leading to safety and national security risks.
