[Marinade Finance: DAO Targeted by Malicious Proposal Attack, Vulnerability Fixed with No Fund Loss]
Solana staking protocol Marinade Finance stated that on September 25, its DAO was targeted by attackers attempting to seize governance control through two malicious proposals. However, both proposals were rejected by the DAO committee, with no funds transferred, and mSOL, Native Staking, and SAM services remained unaffected.
The attackers exploited a vulnerability in the DAO voting process, causing a small amount of MNDE tokens to be counted as voting power far exceeding their actual quantity. They submitted a forged 'MIP-23' proposal in an attempt to replace the voting process, while simultaneously submitting another proposal to transfer DAO treasury assets.
It is reported that the actual voting power of MNDE holders exceeded that of the two malicious proposals, and the DAO committee completed the rejection within six hours, approximately four days ahead of the proposals' originally scheduled execution time.
