[Institution: Summary of Opinions from the Bank of Japan's September Meeting Shows No Signal of Consecutive Rate Hikes] Jin10 Data, October 1 — Mitsui Sumitomo Nikko Securities economist Yoshimasa Maruyama stated that the summary of opinions from the Bank of Japan's September meeting did not reflect sufficiently hawkish views to support the possibility of consecutive rate hikes anticipated by some investors. 'Regarding the financial environment, a key factor in deciding whether to raise rates, some opinions emphasized corporate behavior and asset prices, suggesting that the Bank of Japan may not need to overly rely on benchmark interest rate levels when deciding whether to implement further rate hikes.' The Overnight Index Swap (OIS) market currently prices in a 20% probability of a rate hike by the Bank of Japan in October and an 82% probability in December.
