Anza Research leads Roger Wattenhofer and Quentin Kniep have proposed SIMD-0675, aiming to utilize Solana's Alpenglow mechanism to arrange geographically close validators for consecutive block production based on self-reported locations. This is designed to reduce network handover latency between block producers. The proposal does not alter the original block production allocation for each validator. Simulation results show that among honest validators, the average handover latency can be reduced from 36.2 milliseconds to 17 milliseconds, a decrease of approximately 53%. https://www.(wublock123.com)/news/simd-0675-geographic-block-production-reduce-solana-handover-latency-69328
