[Lido: MetaMask Staking Service to Exit Validator Node Operations, Expected to Complete by October 7]
Lido stated on the X platform that after investigating an infrastructure breach incident, MetaMask Staking (formerly known as Consensys Staking) has taken precautionary measures to protect customer assets related to its Ethereum validator node operations. Lido mentioned that these measures include exiting the Ethereum (ETH) validator nodes operated under the Lido protocol. This process may result in forfeiting some staking rewards and could incur downtime penalties due to the potential deactivation of validator nodes to mitigate future network penalty risks. Currently, the relevant validator nodes have begun the exit process, which is expected to be completed by October 7, 2026, at the latest (though full withdrawals have not yet been finalized). Lido emphasized that stETH holders do not need to take any action.
